I have a really good 62 body that I am currently working on.It does not have the chrome around the side windows.I have a 61 body that was part of a deal I traded on and it has perfect chrome around the side windows. Here is my question. How can I get the chrome from the parts car and put it on my hotrod with out messing it up?Thanks in advance.Eddy

Are you talking about the chrome that is on the felt window seals? If so look at SDFalcons 104 week ongoing project. He has detailed pictures and descriptions of how to remove all the trim around the windows.

My advice would be to purchase new window seals. This way not only do you get the chrome your looking for but you also get the seals that will help protect your cars body from rust as the new seals help prevent water from getting down in the body.

Hope this helps.

Ed,

If both Falcon years are the same model body, the deluxe stainless trim should interchange. The Tudor sedan has a longer door then the Fordor sedan for example.

I have not removed the trim from the doors, but the design is without any fasteners. The trim hooks on one edge and "snaps" down on the other. On a door, the trim would hook on the outside edge and snap down by the weatherstripping. Use a wide thin putty knife or the rounded end of a old style can opener. Cover the edges of either one with masking tape to avoid scratches.

Terry,
Thanks for the info.I kinda gathered that it snapped on,but could not make up my mind which side to start on.Do you know if there is any kind of glue or adhesive under them?

Hollis,
The new seals are already here. The chrome I was speaking of is the 1" piece that goes around the top of the door rail on the out side of both the front and back side windows. Thanks Eddy

Eddy,

No adhesive of any kind from the factory. Just the hook and snap on is all I have ever run across.
